Will a ChatGPT gift card pay for the API?
No. OpenAI’s gift card article says the balance does not pay for API prepaid billing. ChatGPT wallet and API accounts are different products.
For a developer who needs API spend, use OpenAI’s API billing flow (knowing those credits have their own rules) or a prepaid pack meant for metered model usage across labs.
Brass sells prepaid packs of $10 to $250 you can gift by email or as a card you print. Credits never expire. The recipient spends them across Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok and DeepSeek. US only, 18 and over; an unclaimed gift returns to you after 90 days.
Still shopping for the holidays? A Brass pack goes by email or as a card you print at home, so it is there the day you give it. Send a pack.
