Gift Claude Pro alternative: prepaid AI credit

Anthropic’s gifting article says Claude gift subscriptions are currently unavailable to buy. If you came here to gift Claude Pro for the holidays, that door is closed for now, and there is no return date on the page.

A prepaid pack of AI credit is the clean substitute. You pay once. The recipient spends the balance. Nothing renews on their card.

Why Pro as a gift is awkward right now

When Anthropic’s gifts are on sale, Pro is $20 a month on the pricing page, with Max at $100 and $200. A gift covers a fixed term. Until gifts return, the common workarounds are weak:

• Paying for their account yourself means shared login or awkward billing.
• A guest pass is a seven-day Pro trial that asks for a payment method and can convert to a paid plan.
• Usage credits and bundles stay on the buyer’s Claude account; Anthropic does not describe sending them to someone else.

What a prepaid alternative should do

1. Arrive as a link or a printable card, not a shared password.
2. Not require the recipient to cancel anything later.
3. Work if they bounce between Claude and other models.
4. Still be useful in January, not only on Christmas morning.
