How to buy ChatGPT Plus as a gift
There is no checkout button labeled “gift Plus for 12 months.” OpenAI’s paths are:
- A ChatGPT gift card redeemed into their web wallet, then used toward Plus ($20/month on pricing).
- Gift credits for credit-based features, not day-to-day chat.
- Paying on their account yourself (awkward; avoid).
Practical recipe
Buy a $50-$100 gift card if they are GPT-only and bill on the web. Warn them App Store Plus will not consume the wallet until they move billing to web. If they also use Claude or Gemini, send multi-model prepaid credit instead so the gift is not trapped in one lab.
Brass sells prepaid packs of $10 to $250 you can gift by email or as a card you print. Credits never expire. The recipient spends them across Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok and DeepSeek. US only, 18 and over; an unclaimed gift returns to you after 90 days.
Still shopping for the holidays? A Brass pack goes by email or as a card you print at home, so it is there the day you give it. Send a pack.
